Whenever I feel tired or run down, I make this juice. Research shows that the ingredients used in this elixir helps to build the immune system.

Equipment

  • Sharp knife
  • Juicer
  • 2-4 ounce mason jars with lids

Ingredients

  • 1 medium to large organic ginger root. If organic, you can juice with the skin on. If you can’t find organic ginger, I’d advise to peel.
  • 2-3 blood oranges If you can’t locate blood oranges in your local grocer, any type of orange will do.

Instructions

  • Place ginger in your juicer. Remove the juice extracted and place in large measuring cup with a pour spout. Juice oranges with an orange juicer. I find that with citrus fruits I get more juice from the manual juicers than the electric ones. Mix the orange juice in with ginger juice and add a little bit of honey, if you like a bit of sweetness. Pour into small mason jars if you have more than one serving. Refrigerate what is left from the recommended amount. I’d advise not to juice too much at a time, because the longer this sits in the refrigerator, the more of its healing properties are removed.

Notes

This is probably one of the most effective and economic recipes to ward of a cold. I usually make this in January and throughout the winter months. I drink about 2 ounces of this every other day.
