After all significant edits and preparation to submit to major journals, I received the email of the conferral of my degree just yesterday afternoon. However, even with this great news, there’s a bit of sadness in me at this moment. You see, my daughter starts her new journey as a military wife later this evening. Both her and my son-in-law begin this new life together within hours. For most of their young marriage, my daughter has been going it alone due to the immediate deployment of her husband. He returned last Thursday to now leave to their new home tonight.
Life is kind of quaint that way. Gifts are received even in sadness. However, to see and experience these gifts, it is essential to remain in God’s truth and trust Him in all things. I think now of the Book of Esther where God’s providence and promises remain. Here in this book, we see the eloquence of our Father and His undivided attention to never ever forsake His children. Even in the unknown, He provides secret care for all of us. God shows that He never sleeps within the sleepless story of Ahasuerus אֲחַשְׁוֵרוֹשׁ (Esther 6:1). This story is important to note because God used one of the most inconsequential moments to carry through His desire. To save His people!
So, in this short note to you this week, please remember that God cares for you no matter where you are in life. He loves you so much. He loves me so much too. His comfort is always there for us. His miracles come only through Him in His own time. How beautiful is God’s providence, displayed in the Book of Esther! Its theme and the plan for His people (us) continues to be demonstrated in unparalleled grandeur. As in Esther, we see this every day in His heavenly attributes!
My degree is on the way. My daughter is on her way. Both gifts of celebration, with some sadness to boot. But we forge ahead. Me in knowing that I can finally touch the tangible of my efforts. My daughter, in her goal, to begin a family soon. Yes, grandchildren to come. More of God’s children here on this earth. In His teachings, we will rejoice!
